This painting depicts the great obstacles baby turtles face after they hatch and make their way to the sea. The feat of travelling an enormous path, following their natural instincts to find their feeding grounds amongst the magnificent creatures of the sea. Beginning at the edge of the sea, predators such as crocodiles and sharks await to feast upon the newly hatched turtles. The turtles that do survive continue through their journey of life encountering dolphins and whales. Until one day turtle will return to the same beach so that others may begin the journey.

A Turtle’s Journey

In this painting I have used the messages and cultural symbolism of my families, animals that represent blessings of health, happiness and safe journeys . The Kookaburra, our day watchman that watches over us for danger. The sulfer crested cockatoo visits and delivers messages of travelers family coming and going. The green tree frog thrives in pristine environments meaning that your home is healthy. The rivers in my tribal lands and is represented by the animals prominent in them, the freshwater crocodile in the west, platypus to the south, black bream to the north and long neck turtle to the east, kangaroos at the center..

Homeland Blessings

This painting represents the movement of animals before and after the wet season, and the animals that are travelling a at this time, which tells which animals are best to hunt.
